General Information

What to expect from your photo session

I will call you prior to our agreed date to confirm details and discuss any specific requirements and the types of photo you may like.  I will also ask about your horse’s character and personality and what I might expect of them.

The session is typically 1 ½ to 2 hours long.  I endeavour to take a variety of photo styles and poses, with changes of outfit  for rider / handler if required.  I always try to capture a good mixture of head shots, full head to hoof shots including in-hand and ridden although as it’s your photo shoot I will try to capture whatever you want.  I also try to get as many candid shots as possible as I often find these are some of the ones that truly reflect the special relationship between horse and rider.

After your photo session I will fully edit a selection of approximately 40 photos and upload them to a password protected gallery on my website. This will take approximately 7 days. I will then email you a link and the password together with a promo code to download your included medium resolution image.  From your gallery you will be able to view the photos and purchase prints, wall art and digital image downloads.

A range of print sizes and wall art are available with prices starting from £26.00 for a print and UK shipping is £6.00.  Print orders will take 7 – 14 days to be despatched from the date of ordering, digital image downloads are available immediately after payment.

What to wear

Whilst you don’t have to be in all the photos if you don’t want to, it is nice to have a bit of variety to the ones you will be in. I’d recommend no more than 3 outfits and possibly having a mix of items that can change the look. For example Jodhpurs, jeans, show jacket, jumpers and tops and scarves that can be mixed and matched for different looks. However, at the end of the day the best photos will be the ones you feel most comfortable and relaxed in.

For your horse I suggest treating them as if you’re going to a show.  Clean, groomed and plaited if you want (however, to avoid curly mane photos they’ll have to stay plaited for the session).  A nice clean plain leather head collar and a dark coloured lead rope also tends to look best.  If your horse is clipped it’s best to allow a couple of weeks to get them looking at their best.

Bad Weather

In the event of bad weather it may be necessary to postpone your photo session and re-schedule it.  Whilst it doesn’t have to be sunny and a cloudy sky is fine for photos, rain and or high wind doesn’t work for good photos.  I will be keeping an eye on the weather forecast in the lead up to your session and will contact you beforehand anyway.
